LAL TITAB ASTROLOGY Lal Kitab and astrology differ on one major basis that is the kundli prepared and the postion of planets in both the kundli. Lal Kitab do not consider the planet is in which house number rather thne it consider in which house it is positioned. One peculiarity of Lal Kitab is that the Rasis are not taken into account. The numbers of Rasis which are taken to be identical with house numbers are only important. Pakka ghar of Planet Pakka Ghar is nothing but the concept of natural signification of houses. Sun's Pakka ghar is Lagna. The other planets Pakka Ghars are as under:

Friends and Foes of Planets

Each planet has his friends as well as his enemies just as we human beings do. The list for illustration is given below

A part from friendship or enmity of planets there is also a concept of equivalent planets. The planets so grouped are supposed to be equal in strength. The list of planets is as given under.

Mercury and Sun or Rahu and Mars are posited in one sign together Mercury or Rahu would always be quiet. Moon and Sun when posited in any sign with Rahu and Ketu respectively will be less powerful.

Sin and Sinful Planets

Often there is reference of Paap (Sin) and Paapi (Sinful) planets in Lal Kitab. From Paap or sin is meant Rahu and Ketu from Paapi grahas the reference is to three planets namely Rahu, Ketu and Saturn. Also some astrologers consider Mars is included with them. If any other planet is sitting with any of these planet then the sitting planet also become a paapi planet.

Kayam Graha or Established Planet

If a planet reside in a house then it becomes the lord of the same house. The planet which can give his results freely and without hindrance is called an established planet. In other words no enemy planet should occupy his houses of lordship, exaltation, debility and of his signification. He should also not be a saathi planet or comrade and he should have no aspect of any planet.

Dharmi Grahas or Righteous Planets

Saturn, Rahu and Ketu are known as Paapi Planets but they also some times become the Dharmi or righteous planets. Rahu and Ketu become righteous in the 4th house or anywhere in the chart with Moon. Similarly Saturn becomes righteous when posited in 11th house or anywhere in the chart with Jupiter. By becoming righteous they do not give good results or become benefices. They shall not simply afflict the house or the planet. They become neutral. They on there part will not promote or cause any bad effects.

Muqabla ke Graha or Matching Planets

This is a enormous thing in Lal Kitab. Each planet has his own friends who behave in a friendly way. Some times one of such planets may occupy the house of lordship or the Pakka Ghar of his friendly planet and that planet does not occupy any such house of the former. In such a case the two planets, although friends may not remain the true friends. The behavior of the former will be suspected. He may at times spoil the results of his friendly planets. The planet shall be known as matching planets. Sun and Mars are friends. If Mars occupies the Lagna and Sun does not occupy such house of mars, Mars behavior under such circumstances may or may not be friendly to Sun. Mars would be called a matching planet to Sun. Both can harm each other

Vaastu and fensghui.
In vaastu we do not use the general one as north east is for swami room and south east is for kitchen. We believe that each and every person directions are different.each one ahs negative and positive directions depending on the horoscope.this will done for all the family members . the plot will be inspected also. Besides mantra the asana is also closely related to tantra.

Asana is actually a step by step dissolution of the body into the subtle elements, a process of gradual involution whereby the body is identified with the sense of smell, water with taste, fire with vision, air with touch, ether with sound. These five elements are merged one by one into their sources with potentials of energies and ultimately ego is dissolved into mahat, the great one. Sahkti or pure consciousness is constantly coming down in a shower on human beings,but on account of cosmic bombardment, it is immediately transformed and diffused throught the body.

In reuniting Shiva shakti, the adept can reach out and enjoy the benefits falling from the sahastara chakra, the centre of communication directly between the individual and infinite consciousness above. It is also stressed that all the rituals should be performed under the guidance of the Guru. Various kind of initiation by a Guru are mentioned in Tantra sastras.They are sakti, sambhabi, mantri, anabi, kriyabati, barnamoyee, kalatma, bidhanmdya, etc.Despite different kinds of initiation,all produce the same effect and lead to liberation from bondage.

Tantra is a shastra which indicates ways to bring people and situations under one's control through sadhana. Sadhana shastra contains the various methods of sadhana which can be divided into 5 parts.
1. Pattal : This part details the importance, of jaap for desires, homa, mantra and homa articles for a particular Deva or Deity. Use of mantras if any are also indicated in this.
2. Paddati : The methods of sadhana indicated in this part, includes the methods of taking bath from morning to puja jaap mantra, their use and methods of sadhana for particular occassions.
3. Kawach : The method which we adopt to appease each devta through their names and pray for protection is known as kawach. It is a way through which siddhi of devtas is obtained. Kawach is used after japa. Talismans are made through it and clothes etc. can also be infused for use in tantra.
4. Sahastra Nam : It implies to thousand names. The verses contains thousand names of the devta for which pooja is performed. It indicates the various details of different deities,etc.Specific mantras for siddhi of these deities are detailed therein.
5. Stotra : They are the verses of pooja, prayer of deities. Also methods are indicated for use of mantra, method of making yantras, use of medicines, and other details have been provided in the stotras.

The yoga comes from the sanskrit word 'Yoj' which means to unite,to synthesise i.e. it's ultimate aim is to join oneself with the universal self. But the self is not gained by a weak body. Hence the principal aim of haath yoga is to build a healthy body and train the mind. Yog being another technique of transformation is an important part of tantra. Yoga used in tantra is based more or less on the haath yog with extra dimension. The bodily attitudes, contractions and pressures which make haath yog are designed to specifically work upon the inner mechanism of the human body. To perform haath yoga without doing inner work on the subtle body is a pointless execise from the tantra point of view, though it may help the outer body's health and stamina. A person practicing haath yoga will easily recognise the relations between it's pulls, twists, contractions, pressures and various centres of the subtle body.

Tantra is fundamental and total. It's real importance is that a tantrik can reach the heart of the problem. The tantra if practiced methodically and with full faith and respect so as to achieve success. Directions whenever specified should be followed and homa whenever indicated should be performed with correct material and appropriate mantras.The result is assured if tantras are performed properly.

To vanish worries - when a man/woman cries in happiness tears should be sucked by one who has worries and the worries will be vanished.

To have a child - The milk teeth of a child when it falls should be picked up before falling on the ground. If a lady childless ties it on her left hand in silver or copper talisman, she will be blessed with a child.

To get respect - If the teeth are kept by anybody with him or her and uses it in a silver talisman the person will be respected everywhere.

To cure epilepsy - Heeng (half a masha) should be mixed with a few drops of water. Put a drop in the nose on the side of nostril, than the side affected with epilepsy.

To have a daughter - If the root of lemon tree is taken by a lady with water who is blessed with sons and wants daughters, she will give birth or girls.

To stop stammering - Leaves of manduka parni should be dried in the shade and powdered. This powder should be taken with crystal sugar twice a day.

For diabetes
1. The root of Brahma dandi (T. Balarakkisa H. Shial Kanta) must be rubbed with water on a smooth stone and the paste taken. This is a reliable remedy.
2. Tender leaves of Hema Pushpi (T. Tangeti, H. - Tarwar country soma) must be dried and should be taken with pepper and sugar.
3. Ragi (broken or Powder) must be cooked in hot water and the Kanji should be taken with butter milk. It cures diabetes.

For night blindness :
1. Tender leaves of Castor (4 or 5) taken every day cures night blindness.
2. Tender leaves of Jivanti should be fried in ghee and eaten.

For toothache
1. Two or three drops of Juice of sitaphal leaves, when placed in the crevices of the teeth, kills the worms and removes the pain.
2. Milk of arka when placed in the damaged tooth, kills the worm and pain is lessened.
3. Leaves of Vajradanti when put in the ear removes the pain.
4. Leaves of Jambu should be dried in the shade and powdered. Add Khadirasara (T. Kaviri - Catechu - and put between the teeth.

As stated earlier, Vaastu is a part of Yajur Veda. The ‘Vedas’ are the sacred scriptures of Hindus and there are four Vedas called Rig Veda, Yajur Veda, Sama Veda and Atharva Veda.

Although, no specific dates are available, the Vedas appear to have come into existence between 4000 and 2000 B.C. A section of Yajur Veda called Sthapatha Vidya or the art of building, deals with construction of buildings. A person who was an expert in the art of building and gave advice on it was called Sthapathi.

There are thirty two books on the subject written between 3000 B.C. and 600 A.D. by various authors. All these books are in Sanskrit, the ancient Indian language of the scholars. These books deal in detail with the construction and importance of placements of various utilities.

It should however be acknowledged that there is not much evidence to support that the science expounded in these books was popular and was practiced throughout the length and breadth of the country in olden days.

Various temples that were attacked and destroyed by invaders like Mohd. Ghazni, Mohd. Ghori and others, prove that Vaastu was not practiced faithfully even in temple architecture of the times.

It is reasonable to assume that it was the builders who first noticed that the shape of the building has had an effect on the health and prosperity of inhabitants. In fact, the first book credited to Vishwakarma mentioned earlier gives credence to this point of view as he belongs to the class of builders. The second book of the ancient times called Maya Mata goes in the name of its author Maya, the architect of those times. It is however intriguing, why then this subject did not gain popularity that it deserved.

One of the reasons could be that the structures in olden days had to be basically built by stones and mud, as no other construction material was available. This was a costly exercise involving substantial labor and only the royalty could afford it. Thus the texts like Maya Mata deals extensively with Palaces, Forts, Chariots and Marriage-halls, etc. Secondly, communication in those days would have been a deterrent in spreading this knowledge far and wide. And lastly, the scholars wrote these texts in Sanskrit and it is likely that they did not make any effort to educate the public on the subject.

Unfortunately, for India, invasion by outsiders was a common occurrence. India first went under Sultanates and then the Mogul Rule, which was succeeded by the British. During this period, when instruments to spread knowledge developed on the lines of the cultural influence of the rulers of the day, the knowledge about Vaastu remained hidden.


ASTROLOGY, RITUALS AND VAASTU:


One common feature of some of the ancient books is a mix up of Astrology with Vaastu. Vaastu is basically a pure science of structures and it discusses the energy field that develops because of the shape of structure and the way the doors and windows are placed. Slowly, Astrology also made forays to Vaastu. An attempt was made to interpret the plot onastrological matrix. See the following figure

Every plot was divided into nine parts on its length and breadth side. Each part was supposed to be controlled by a planet. According to Indian Astrology, Sun is considered a planet and Moon is also considered another planet. Two other imaginary planets, Rahu and Kethu are also included, thus making the total number to nine.

The nine divisions were believed to be under the influence of one planet each, namely, Sun, Moon, Mercury Venus, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Rahu and Kethu. The exits and the entrance were determined based on the position occupied by a particular planet in the plot. As you can see in this matrix, each cardinal direction occupies 5/9th of the length on the side. The corner directions were 2/9th the length.
I will be explaining in the later chapters why this matrix is wrong when we study the way energy interacts in a building or plot. You will then be able to appreciate why following this matrix could only lead to problems.
Over a course of time, further aberrations took place. The owner’s horoscope was also brought into picture. Depending upon his birth-star, indications were given as to where the main door should come, what type of plot would suit etc. The suitability of a plot for a person was supposedly determined by some mathematical calculations. These are called as ‘Aaya’s.

An Aaya was determined by taking an arbitrary unit of measurement, like the person’s arm length, who wanted to buy the plot. ‘Aaya’ was then calculated in a specific way to determine whether the plot suited him or not. The unit of measurement was also not uniform in all cases. While some used the length of a person’s arm, others used a unit, which was the length from a person’s ear to the ground. Still others used the distance between the tip of the little finger and the thumb as a unit. All this made the subject simply confusing and difficult to follow.

Another controversial factor was also taken into consideration in those times. It was believed that the suitability of a plot should be decided on the basis of the color of the earth of the plot and the caste to which the prospective buyer belonged. Thus a plot with red earth was considered good for people of a particular caste and the lot with black earth fitted the people of a different caste. Caste system was very much imposing in those times and probably the caste factor was also included in Vaastu considering the influence of caste on the society.

Some of the books also tried to analyze the characteristics of the plot based on the shape or appearance. Here again shapes of plots which resembled a cow’s face (Gomukha), were considered good, whereas shapes resembling a tiger’s face (Vyagramukha) were considered bad.

It is interesting to speculate as to how astrology made its foray into Vaastu. Most of the ancient kings in India were fans of astrologers and astrologers enjoyed a great amount of respect in those days. Nothing was planned without the consultation of the royal astrologer, be it a coronation or a war. Since the knowledge of Vaastu originated from builders who belonged to a lower class and were not represented in the royal ministry, they had to seek necessarily the help of the astrologers to popularise the findings. Probably, it was during this time, the astrologers modified the subject so that everything can be interpreted astrologically. Importance to various rituals was given during construction. The rituals were to be performed at various stages such as at the time of starting excavation, laying of foundation stone, keeping doorframes and after completion of construction. There is thus evidence to believe that astrology imposed itself on Vaastu and did not allow it to grow on its own.

Perhaps all these contradictory approaches resulted in pushing Vaastu to obscurity.

VAASTU IN ANCIENT INDIA
Although the science is several centuaries old there is nothing to support it was
widely practiced in the olden days. Probably the lack of proper instruments to
spread the knowledge could be one of the reasons. Still there are some temples

In short it was a dream land of frozen fantansy, which excelled the famous assembly hall of wisdom in grandeur and glory.

The knowledge of house building technology has grown so vast into special fields of architecture, engineering and interior decoration etc., while the importance of Vastu has gone into oblivion where as architecture is concerned. Vastu provides the knowledge of the principles to be adopted in building of temples, houses, corporate offices, industrial sheds, factories etc., so as to make the native happy, healthy and prosperous.

In samaraangana sutra-dhara the author explains that properly designed and planned constructions (pleasing houses) will be an abode of good health, wealth, intelligence, good children, peace, happiness and will redeem one from debt of obligations. Negligence of rules of architecture will result in unnecessary travels, bad name in society, sorrows and disappointments. All constructions (including villages, towns, cities, temples, Raja Prasadas (govt. buildings) shall be built according to vastu shastra. Hence Vastu shilpa shastra is brought into light in favour of, to the satisfaction of and for the betterment and overall welfare of the universe.

Hidden aspects of natural laws give birth to life and for better or for worse, the rules of nature command that life and therefore a close adjustment to the natural background becomes a bare necessity. The location, direction and disposition of construction have a direct impact on life. Hence vastu shilpa shastra, the ancient scripture, experienced by generations after generations, contains the essence of vastu shilpa shastra knowledge.

For example the temple of Sri. Venkateswara at Tirupati is found adhering to the principles of vastu shilpa shastra i.e. the main entrance is on the East, while the water tank is in the north-East and as such God is giving peace, prosperity and wealth to every one having darshana and by worshipping will be rich and desires will be fulfilled. They will be comfortable in their lives.

The other example is of Bhagwan "Sri Sri Sri Satya Sai Baba" of Puttaparthi. his abode is made at such a place where water flows in the North-Eastern direction and some hillocks are situated in the south-west. He is virtually considered to be a living God by many of his followers throughout the world. His disciples created a university, superspeciality hospital, drinking water facility for many villages in Ananthapur district aerodrome and sports grounds according to Vastu.

It is clear that an individual experiences both good and bad results in a house according to his destiny, depending upon the planetary configuration in his horoscope. If unfavourable dasa is in operation, however best the house is constructed according to the principles of vastu the native undergoes turmoil and turbulence in that period. For an individual's misery it could be said that there may be Graha Dosham or Griha dosham or both. An unfortunate person stays in a house built not in conformity with the principles of vastu, while a fortunate individual lives in a house built as per vastu, with or without his knowledge.
